Morphology of Invertebrates -
3D Imaging and Novel Approaches for Biosystematics
Biosystematics, informatics and genomics of the big 4 insect groups:
training tomorrow's researchers and entrepreneurs
May 8th-13th 2017
Natural History Museum Vienna
Listen to inspirational talks...
on the legacy and prospects of morphology in systematics and evolutionary biology presented by some BIG4 supervisors and guest speakers, e.g. Prof. Dr. Andreas Wanninger, Dr. Sergei Tarasov and Dr. Sarah Faulwetter, who will also be involved in the teaching during the week.
BIG4 students, be prepared for something new!
The motto of this workshop is innovation and we hope that everyone will learn something new from how to create and manipulate complex 3D data, approach novel statistical models, master new imaging techniques from using multifocus setup, scanning electron microscopy and software to create and assemble illustrations for publications.
Participate in instructive courses...
to deepen your theoretical knowledge on imaging methods and practice various techniques to study invertebrate morphology, produce 3D images, analyse big data and use statistical models for phylogenetic research.
To make this workshop an exciting and busy event, BIG4 students will have a chance to collaborate on small projects and present their results on Saturday!
